Rob Hooper has worked for over thirty years in the furniture trade. His mission is to create fine furniture which lasts for generations and is affordable for all.

He served a five year apprenticeship in Shoreditch, the old heart of the furniture trade; a community of upholsterers, cabinet makers, French polishers and frame makers and then joined the family upholstery firm specialising in contract seating across London. They began supplying auditorium seating and Rob designed chairs which sold in tens of thousands to the new multiplexes before starting his own company in Sussex. He was highly sought after for his traditional skills and re-upholstered antique furniture for the Sussex dealers for the top end trade in London. Following a request to teach upholstery to young people, Rob spent a rewarding and enjoyable sabbatical in the Caribbean before sailing back and landing in Falmouth. It was difficult to leave the beautiful South West, so Sussex Seating moved to the West Country and Rhoop Design set up as an independent business from the workshops on Dartmoor.

Before joining the RH Design team Ryan worked predominantly in fabrication in the contemporary art world, supervising wood and metal workshops and creating and installing internationally renowned art works in public art galleries and festivals. He brings experience of fabricating ambitious and challenging designs in a wide range of materials. He has joined the RH team as a furniture maker and designer and is developing his upholstery skills and knowledge under the tutelage of our master upholsterer, Rob Hooper.

Liz has a background in management and finance and worked for many years as the General Manager at the Kings Theatre, Southsea and Finance Manager and Company Secretary at D W Plastics Ltd.

She has been the Business Manager at Sussex Seating for many years and looks after the administration and day to day customer care at Rhoop Design.
